ABUSE OF SICK LEAVE & UNAUTHORISED ABSENTEEISM2011/08/01 This is an issue that has been a nightmare for managers and employers since the dawn of employment relations. It is not something that can be tested in an interview and it is not always easy to detect the real reason for the absence and when it constitutes abuse of time or sick leave. Sometimes it is caused by personal circumstances of the employee which is unforeseen. Whereas managers and employers often have compassion for personal circumstances and illness, this compassion disappears very quickly when misuse is suspected. If the employer experiences abuse of sick leave, certain measure and policies can be implemented to address this.... |
